ANCHOR QEA, LLC Senior-level Scientist in Tacoma, Washington

Title: Mid/Senior Level Environmental Scientist Location: Tacoma or Seattle Job Type: Regular Full-time What's the Opportunity? Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time, mid- to senior-level environmental scientist. We are interested in a candidate that has the capacity to grow and is a quick learner, detail-oriented, and a committed team player. This position will support multi-disciplinary projects involving multimedia upland, in-water sediment, and regulatory compliance assessments. Typical project locations will be based in the Pacific Northwest, but assignments may also include work on and travel to projects nationwide or internationally. Successful candidates will have an opportunity to work on a variety of tasks of differing complexities, both independently and in team environments, learn directly from leaders in the industry, and provide mentoring to our junior staff. The staff will work regularly in the office environments and occasionally in the field. The staff will mentor and coordinate efforts of junior staff. Responsibilities: Oversee and prepare scopes, workplans, and various deliverables for a range of multi-disciplinary projects. Support project management tasks, including leading multidisciplinary team assignments, interacting with clients and regulatory agencies, managing project budgets and schedules, and producing high quality deliverables. Develop written deliverables in support of site investigations, including sampling and analysis plans, remedial investigation and feasibility study reports, and data reports. Oversee or conduct environmental sampling (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.). Lead qualitative and quantitative analyses of environmental data. Mentor and train junior staff on environmental sampling, writing, and project management. What Are We Looking For? Ideal candidates will have the following: S. or M.S. degree in relevant field (e.g., Environmental Science) with 7 to 10 years of relevant work experience. Experience with in-water and upland remediation sites, including the planning and implementation of sampling, data analysis, remedial investigations and feasibility studies. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with contaminated sediments. Hydrogeology, stormwater management, and risk assessment experience is also a plus. Experience with Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) regulations and application to various stages of a remediation project. Understanding of regulatory program requirements such as NPDES and waste management regulations. Strong understanding of project management, including cost estimating/tracking, development of scopes, and overseeing field investigations and project teams. Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) certification (preferred; will be provided by Anchor QEA upon hire if not currently certified). Ability to travel for field projects up to 20% of the time, depending on project needs. What Can You Expect?
