Job Overview:

The Account Coordinator – International is responsible for supporting international sales representatives and customers through a hybrid role of Order Fulfillment and Account Management. The role is responsible for clear and concise communication between the International Account Managers, Fulfillment Staff and the External Customers. The role makes decisions and collaborates within assigned market group. Assists in the management of the international distribution system. Liaison for operations and purchasing departments to ensure international orders are filled and shipped properly. Also performs limited inside sales functions.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Acts as both Sales and Fulfillment with the ability to coordinate between both departments. Responisble for effectively supporting international sales representatives and customers through direct customer support by growing relationships with larger accounts in specific markets.

  • Works closely with distribution centers to coordinate inbound and outbound shipments along with resolving order issues as they occur. Negotiates and makes decisions with vendors for resolution on shortages, damages, shelf life, product returns and disposition.

  • Makes recommendations on product selection, sales promotions, and new products to assigned markets.

  • Assists in billing, adjusting, crediting, and invoicing customer orders.

  • Acts as a lead to mentor, train, and assist with prioritizing workload for order fulfillment associates.

  • Assists in the management of the international distribution system to include coordinating orders with freight forwarders, ocean carriers and airlines when applicable, as well as UNFI transportation.

  • Receives, reviews, validates, and processes export documentation for each shipment accurately, throughly, efficiently while performing all functions within a strict time frame.

  • Maintains quality service, high level of expertise including order processing, invoicing, and document reviews.

  • Directs and enforces food safety recalls including documentation, research and customer notification on disposition of product.

  • Provides excellent and timely customer service skills and shipment follow up by proactively informing customers of the status of their shipments, answering questions to the best of your ability and referring customers to the department management when his/her questions are more technical.

  • Works with the export regulatory compliance team, performing duties related to document preparation and traffic coordination required to assist customers with processing the goods through customs for timely deliveries.

  • Advises the department management of any delays, problems and/or question any irregularities discovered within an assigned order.

  • Documents and tracks import/export shipping documents. Gains approval on UPCs and artwork and communicate status with import/export vendors.

  • Responsible for maintaining effective business relations with international customers.

  • Receives incoming sales calls and answers questions from foreign customers.

  • Provides pricing and inventory information.

  • Gathers new customer documentation for new account set up to include samples of documentation needed.

  • Ensures that all regulatory requirements are met for international customers and vendors.

  • Builds relationships with customers, sales, vendors, distribution centers, and third-party providers

    Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree preferred or equivalent related experience.

  • 4-6 years related experience.

  • Background in International Sales preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.

  • Customer service or operations experience in retail, grocery, or CPG preferred.

  • Ability to respond quickly in a demanding work environment.

  • Ability to multitask and orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal.

  • Clear written and verbal communication.

  • Knowledge of international customs regulations.

  • Flexible and ability to adapt to rapidly changing needs.

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational capabilities.
