We are seeking a talented Extraction Technician to join our laboratory team in Tacoma. Under the supervision of a Laboratory Director or Laboratory Supervisor, the Extraction Technician will perform laboratory tests including sample preparation and extraction of various analytes from biological specimens.
The schedule for this role is Monday-Friday 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM with a training schedule of 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM.
This position is paid at $19.00/hr, with a +$2/hr shift differential for hours worked between 6p-12:30am (including any overtime). In total 2 hours of each shift are paid at $19.00/hr and 6 hours are paid at $21.00/hr. (We have an annual performance review process and merit raises are apart of that with good performance).
Essential Functions:
Aliquot urine and/or oral fluid specimens for sample preparation procedures
Perform sample preparation techniques including specimen hydrolysis, solid phase extraction, liquid-liquid extraction as outline in the laboratory SOP
Prepare samples for gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS-MS)
Prepare reagents and buffers as needed
Assists with maintaining an adequate inventory of laboratory supplies
Troubleshoots problems as necessary
Responsible for all record keeping associated with specimen preparation
Performs other tasks and duties as assigned, commensurate with education, training, and abilities
Education and Experience:
HS Diploma or GED equivalent, required
Bachelor's Degree in a science field (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Pre-med (Biomed), Forensics & Toxicology)
Preferred in WA and AZ
Required in IN and NY
Laboratory experience helpful, but not required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Meticulous attention to detail
Able to communicate effectively in a team environment
Able to interpret and follow complex, written, technical instructions
Sound technical ability
