Structural Engineer - KPFF's Special Projects Group is seeking a full-time STRUCTURAL ENGINEER in our Tacoma office. The Tacoma, WA office of KPFF's Special Projects Group is seeking qualified Structural Engineers with Waterfront/Marine experience or an interest in designing Waterfront structures that are ready to take their career to the next level. The successful candidate(s) will have the opportunity to be directly involved in a wide variety of challenging projects, including port, industrial developments, ferry terminals, shipyards, fish & wildlife facilities, naval facilities, small boat marinas, municipal structures, floating structures, and design-build infrastructure. We are looking for self-motivated people who are eager to develop design and project management skills and are passionate about providing exceptional client service. Qualifications Include:

  • Minimum of 10 years of structural design experience
  • BS in Civil Engineering (with a structural emphasis)
  • MS in Civil Engineering preferred (with a structural emphasis)
  • PE license required (SE license preferred)
  • Concrete, steel, and timber design experience
  • Experience in the design of marine structures
  • Pile design and bulkhead wall experience
  • Pre-stressed concrete and seismic design experience
  • Familiarity with performance-based seismic design, non-linear push-over analysis, and soil-structure interaction analysis
  • Knowledge of ASCE 61-14, AASHTO, IBC, ASCE-7, AISC, ACI, and NDS
  • Proficiency in SAP2000, L-Pile, MS Excel, and VBA is preferred
  • Ability to work dynamically with clients and project team members
  • An interest in working on a wide variety of non-building-related project types
