Description Summary Lead projects related to: Qualifying or generating allowable data for some of the world's best carbon fiber / prepreg systems. Establishing equivalencies for strategic business continuity/cost reduction programs supporting supply chain and production. Coordinating implementing changes and improvements to manufacturing process with multiple customer approvals. Duties and Responsibilities Establish equivalency of raw materials, processes, equipment, and improve yield of manufacturing processes through production experiments. Input data into production enterprise manufacturing system to run production experiments. Develop test plan in advance and conduct experiments in cooperation with other departments such as production, planning, supply chain and others. Analyze test/process data and generate reports with clear conclusions. Conduct troubleshooting and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) on technical or production activities. Report out suggested path forward including counter measures. Prepare/present content for internal and external customers and conferences/symposium. Conduct intellectual property activities such as patent confirmation/prior use defense with the guidance of supervisor. Follow change management process with guidance from project lifecycle management group. Support customer visits/trials and supplier audit/trials as needed. (Occasional Domestic and International travel may be required. Obtaining a US passport will be required) May assist in guiding/supporting new engineers. With support from senior engineers, act as customer/spec custodians. May assist in guiding/supporting new engineers. Create/Review technical documents such as process control documents/ raw material specifications. Skills and Specifications Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to utilize/operate a computer, peripheral equipment and appropriate software, such as Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Ability to work well under pressure. Knowledge of record keeping techniques and procedures. Ability to develop close working relationships with other departments. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required. Ability to share knowledge with other team members. Understanding of Toray prepreg processing technologies. Understanding of testing and test methods of prepreg. Understanding of industry quality standards (i.e. AS9100, ISO14001) are preferred. Ability to use statistical/RCCA tools (i.e. Ishikawa/Pareto/FMEA/5-why/minitab/CMH-17 stats etc) is expected. Strong understanding of Technical writing. Familiarity with customer processes of prepreg. Familiarity with Safety Data Sheet creation/management Education and Qualifications Bachelors Degree (Bachelors of Material Science preferred) and 2 years applicable experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. This position involves working with technologies and information which are subject to U.S. export control regulations.
