St. Joseph Medical Center: Care Assistant - Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) - Full Time

St. Joseph Medical Center, a leading healthcare provider in Tacoma, WA, is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Assistant - Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary and benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plan.

About the Role:

As a Care Assistant - HUC, you will play a vital role in supporting our nursing staff and ensuring the smooth operation of our patient care units. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing direct patient care: Assisting patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and toileting.

  • Monitoring patient vital signs: Taking temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiratory rate.

  • Documenting patient care: Maintaining accurate and timely records of patient care activities.

  • Answering phones and responding to patient calls: Providing prompt and courteous communication to patients and families.

  • Scheduling appointments and coordinating patient care: Ensuring smooth transitions between departments and services.

  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment: Ensuring a safe and efficient workspace for all staff.

  • Collaborating with the nursing team: Working closely with nurses to provide comprehensive patient care.

Qualifications

Education/Work Experience Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Nursing Assistant program (or military medical specialty training). Six months related work experience preferred. Experience in a hospital setting preferred.

  • Prefer experience in a specialty unit. Preference is given toward applicants with experience as both a Certified Nursing Assistant and Unit Coordinator.

Licensure/Certification

Must be registered by the Washington State Nursing Commission as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Note: Employee’s hired prior to June, 2014 with Washington State Nurse Assistant Registered shall be grandfathered.

Current healthcare provider BLS certification is required.

Pay Range

$19.13 - $27.36 /hour
