CalPortland Company Assistant Plant Manager in Tacoma, Washington

*Job Summary* The Assistant Plant Superintendent works closely with the Plant Superintendent in overseeing the daily aggregate production plant and mining operations, ensuring the operations are run in a safe manner, in compliance with environmental requirements and in the most efficient and effective way. In addition, the Assistant Plant Superintendent has the responsibility of overseeing an equipment and fabrication shop. Duties include the supervision and management of aggregate delivery via barge operations and over the road trucks, workforce management, ensuring compliance with company, state and federal safety and environmental requirements, maximizing equipment utilization, ensuring customer quality requirements, and responding to emergencies. The company also has a variety of voluntary benefits for employees to choose from. *Compensation* Salary Range \$105,000 to \$125,000 DOE *Responsibilities* * Assist the Plant Manager in the oversight of daily mining, aggregate processingand asphalt production; will help set-up and supervise daily crew activity in all the above operations * Assist in the preparation and management of operational and capital budgets, as well as updating forecasts; prepare periodic reports and presentations regarding the status of operations * Responsible for daily production reporting and inventory management * Help assure that products meet specifications and high standards of quality * Analyze equipment use, mining activity, and plant processes for efficiency, power/fuel utilization, and costs; initiate recommendations for improvement * Help ensure proper equipment maintenance. * Promote a strong safety culture and help provide oversight on safe work practices, providing a safe work environment, and safety training * Assure high environmental standards with mine-site reclamation, air emissions, water quality, and material handling * Help ensure a high level of customer service and client satisfaction * Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethic code, and ensure that they are communicated and implemented within the team *Education* Bachelors degree in Mine Engineering, Geology,Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, CivilEngineering, Controls Automation or other related engineering or business field. *Requirements/Qualifications* *Required:* Minimum of 3 years industry or related experience. Strong knowledge of welding, repairs, and maintenance of mobile equipment. Must be familiar with state and federal mining regulations as well as material specifications. Strong supervisory and people skills. Excellent problem solving, planning and organizational skills Proficient in MS Office including Excel *Preferred:* * Previous industry exposure or experience * Familiar with the systematic engineering thought processes and problem-solving * SAP knowledge *Conditions of Employment* Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check.
