Description Quick Facts Compensation: $54.05 to $54.05 an hour as bargained Working hours: Full-time, hourly, Reports to: Director, Maintenance and Repair Industry: Marine Terminal Container Operations Job Functions: IAM Union Mechanic The Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic is responsible for the service and repair of terminal refrigeration equipment, including shipping containers, mounted A/C, and gensets, while helping in keeping cargo flowing in a timely and efficient manner. Essential Duties: Removal/Replacement/Troubleshooting of electrical systems Removal/Replacement/Troubleshooting of Air Conditioning systems Tracking/Tracing/Troubleshooting of intermittent issues with terminal refrigeration equipment Identifying/Rectifying primary and secondary system malfunctions Removal/Replacement/Troubleshooting of diagnostic systems Mounting/Dismounting generator using a forklift Troubleshooting of generator diesel engines Additional Responsibilities include the following. Experience, Certifications, Credentials): Two years of related schooling or five years of applicable experience. Selected candidate will be required to be a member of the IAM Union and will be governed by the applicable bargaining unit agreement. Must have current EPA cards and field related tools Obtain and Maintain TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Card) issued by the Department of Homeland Security Valid US Driver's License Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Skilled at brazing refrigeration lines as needed. Strong working knowledge of Carrier, Daikin, Thermo King, and Starcool refrigeration units Troubleshoot and repair all types of terminal refrigeration equipment, including containers, generators, and A/C units, while maintaining a safe work area. Be able to read and follow electrical diagrams Experienced in working with Variable Frequency Drives and utilizing current troubleshooting techniques. Be able to communicate, both verbal and written Work as directed by General Foreman Maintain positive attitude amongst colleagues and terminal personnel Stay focused under high-pressure situations, including reefer load repairs Physical Working Conditions Requires the full use of the person's hands, arms, and legs Must be physically able to work from gangways, stools, ladders, scissor lifts, and reach all without being afraid of heights Upper body strength to be able to lift heavier parts such as compressors and evaporator coils up to 50 lbs Ability to stand, sits, squatting when necessary Ability to see and hear fast moving equipment Able to work all hours or a 7 days a week Benefits: One of Husky's core values is People First.
