Position: Manufacturing Engineer (Temp)

Location : Sumner, WA

Pay : DOE

Job Description:

Develops and implements manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls; coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products. Manufacturing engineers are responsible for the technical management, maintenance and development of new and existing production lines.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Improves manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency.

  • Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.

  • Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.

  • Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.

  • Designing new equipment, processes, procedures and systems.

  • Investigating production problems; making improvements to current operations to enhance efficiency.

  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.

  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules and estimating future requirements.

  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

  • Provides technical support to production by answering questions and requests.

  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures and requesting special service.

  • Maintains process data base by writing standard work instructions.

Special Skill Set(s) Required:

  • Process Engineer with Trimming, Assembly, and Paint experience.

  • MRB experience, should be able to disposition rework instructions per allowed specifications.

  • Skilled in reviewing and modifying planning, as needed.

  • Ability to provide direction to manufacturing personnel, based on drawing, model, and planning requirements.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Manufacturing Planning experience

  • Shop floor support experience

  • Tooling experience

  • 10+ years in aerospace supporting composite part fabrication and assembly

  • Preferred: CATIA v5 experience
