JOB DESCRIPTION

The person in this position will be harvesting, packaging, weeding, washing and cooling of row crop vegetables, pumpkins, berries, rhubarb, zucchini, celery, and corn.

 

Work is done in the field for long periods of time. The person in this position may assist in handling product weighing up to 60 pounds and lifting to a height of 3 feet. Workers must work on their feet in bent positions for long periods of time. Work requires repetitive movements and extensive walking.

 

Work required in fields when plants are wet with dew and rain, and may be required during light rain, snow, moderate winds, direct sun, high humidity and extreme temperatures. Temperatures in fields during working hours can range from 30 to over 90 degrees F. The person in this position may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Willing to commit to the entire contract period

  • 3 months of experience in harvesting of row crop vegetables and general farm labor experience

  • Able to lift 60 lbs. repeatedly throughout the day

     

HOURS/DAYS/SCHEDULE

Contract period: March 24^th^, 2025 through January 23^rd^, 2026

8 hours per day Monday through Saturday.

 

SALARY/WAGE/BENEFITS

$19.82 per hour.

 

The payroll period shall be bi-weekly.   

 

The employer will furnish, without charge, all tools, supplies and personal protective equipment required in the performance of the specified work.

 

Employer provided housing/kitchen facilities are available for employees who are unable to reasonably return to their place of residence the same day.

 

Employer will furnish cooking facilities with working appliances, hot water, a place to prepare food at no cost to employees occupying employer-provided housing.  Employees will purchase their own food and prepare their own meals. In the event that it becomes necessary for the employer to provide 3 meals a day to the workers, the employer will charge $15.88 per day or the current allowable charge as designated by the DOL. All breaks and lunches will be subject to local, state, and federal regulations.

 

Employer will use six 12 passenger vans and one bus with 24 passenger capacity to transport workers occupying employer-provided housing. The workers will be picked up at the housing locations; the time of pick-up depends on variable factors, such as weather, field location, job duties, etc. They will be returned to the housing in the same manner after their shift is done; time varies depending on the same factors. Vehicle to be used will be provided by the fixed-site employer. Employer will offer transportation to and from employer provided housing to the work site, at no cost to workers who qualify. Employer will provide one weekly trip to workers to purchase groceries.

 

Transportation costs to the job site for domestic workers from outside the local commuting distance of the job site will be reimbursed by the employer after 50% of the contract period.  Transportation costs from the job site to workers' home will be provided to those domestic workers that complete the entire contract period.

 

Employer guarantees to offer employment for the hourly equivalent of 3/4 or 75% of the workdays of the work contract beginning with the first day of work.
