The County Noxious Weed Program, natural resource aide, will perform work as part of a team to control identified weed species. The aide will perform work as part of a team to control identified weed species throughout the county using various Integrated Pest Management methods.  Duties can include finding and logging locations of weed infestations and treating with mechanical and chemical methods such as herbicide application, hand pulling, grubbing, and cutting.  Work requires use of a vehicle.  Functional contacts include other weed department and county employees, the public and project partners.

[ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: ]{.underline}

Control of noxious weeds identified by the weed coordinator, weed grant coordinators and project partners using methods including, mechanical and chemical.

Assists in providing education of noxious weeds to public.

Maintains weed department herbicide application equipment and weed control tools in good working condition.

Operates pick-up truck, tractor and implements. Must have valid driver license at time of hire and good driving record.

[K]{.underline}[NOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: ]{.underline}Skill in use and care of tools, equipment, and vehicles. Ability to learn and identify various weed species under various growing conditions. Ability to work well as a team member as well as independently in performing regular work duties. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department supervisors, co-workers, other county employees, project partners, and general public. Ability to read, understand and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written format. Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.

[WORKING CONDITIONS]{.underline}: Majority of work will be performed outside in various locations throughout the county, including steep or otherwise difficult terrain. Exposure to pesticides and other chemicals may occur.

[P]{.underline}[HYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: ]{.underline}The duties of the above position require strength, agility and stamina to perform manual labor for extended periods of time in varying climate conditions.  These duties require walking, climbing, stooping, bending, reaching, kneeling, twisting, traversing uneven terrain, working in adverse weather conditions and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Requires finger dexterity, sense of touch, gripping with fingers and hands, ability to see, hear voice conversations and to speak.

MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER. This is due to the use of Chemicals.
