Our department provides transportation for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout our community and to nearby shopping centers, restaurants, and medical facilities on scheduled routes and timetables.

If you:

  • Have a strong work ethic and desire to serve others.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small groups to homesites, clients and other employees of the organization.
  • The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Have a valid driver's license AND a satisfactory driving record.
  • The ability to operate a large vehicle under varying traffic conditions.
  • Familiarity with Spokane and the surrounding area with the ability to read maps, directions, and navigation.

What you'll do:

  • Provide safe, reliable, courteous, and efficient transportation for individuals in our residential programs and be committed to safety through consistent and professional work. Safety is a fundamental value that guides all aspects of our work!
  • Prepare the vehicles for operation by performing pre trip safety inspection. Monitor the ongoing condition of the vehicle during operation and complete post trip inspection at end of shift.
  • Operate the vehicle on specified routes according to established time schedules. Follow policies, obey traffic laws, and remain knowledgeable regarding any changes.
  • Assist passengers with disabilities in boarding and de-boarding the vehicles, secure wheelchair tie-downs or safety belts as required.
  • Provide verbal and written reports to supervisor regarding route, safety, schedule and operational problems or concerns.
  • Operate the vans in a safe manner and in compliance with STA and WA state traffic regulations.
  • Respond to emergencies efficiently and to make immediate decisions and notifications per policy.
