Dishman Hills Conservancy Resource and Fundraising Development Director in Spokane, Washington

Position Summary Reporting to the Executive Director, the Resource Development Officer is responsible for the strategic planning, management, and oversight of the organization's fundraising program. This individual must ensure the program is designed and executed thoughtfully to engage donors and volunteers to strengthen relationships and fundraising results. Specifically, the Resource and Fundraising Development Officer must increase the number of donors and charitable revenue through planning and executing annual campaigns, special events, major donor giving, and grant-writing. This position is a key member of the staff and helps provide direction to achieving the mission, vision, and strategy of DHC along with the executive director and as invited by the board.

Essential Functions 1. Fundraising Management (50%)

  • In cooperation with the Leadership Team and the Board of Directors, builds a comprehensive, multi-faceted annual giving program, that aligns with DHC's strategic plan, and includes Board, donor, community, and participant-based campaigns, as well as special event planning and execution, grant writing and personal gift solicitations.
  • Identifies prospective donors through research, referrals, event attendees, program participants, volunteers, and community contacts.
  • Updates and implements the development plan including goals for long-term financial sustainability and short/medium term for continuous growth of resources that support operations, maintenance and stewardship of properties, and programs that engage current and future donors.
  • Becomes engaged in the greater Spokane Community through networking and personal involvement to bring additional resources to DHC.
  • Identify and develops a plan for grant writing.
  1. Major Gift Fundraising/Donor Information Management (25%)
  • Leads periodic prospect review meeting to identify and strategize major gift donor engagement and report on progress.
  • Maintains all donor information of active donors/prospects.
  • Develops relationships with major individuals, corporations, and foundation donors.
  • Prepares gift proposals and makes donation requests in a timely manner.
  1. Donor Communication & Stewardship (20%)
  • Prepares appropriate engagement letters to donors.
  • Leads annual communications plan with donors and implements all aspects of plan with key communication strategies, including marketing, annual reports, emails, social media, website, newsletters, etc.
  • Established a broad and personalized engagement plan to renew and upgrade committed donors annually.
  1. Budget Management & Reporting (5%)
  • Assists in developing fundraising goals in support of DHC's annual operating budget and capital needs.
  • Develops and adheres to event/campaign-specific budgets.
  • Drafts quarterly report/scorecard of fundraising performance for review by the Executive Committee.
  • Provides comprehensive annual report of fundraising performance.
  • Effectively utilize the data collected from donors and constituents to report on fundraising performance and outcomes.
  1. Accessibility
  • Must be able to work flexible hours for relationship building and management to meet donors and other volunteers at their convenience which could include weekends, early mornings, and evenings.
  • Position requires ownership of a car and a valid driver's license.

Education Required

Bachelor's degree in a related field

Experience Required

3-5 years' experience in fundraising, communications, or related field for a non-profit organization

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and donor management software.
