Applications will only be accepted prior to 4:00 p.m. on the closing date.The Community Colleges of Spokane is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the grant funded position of Re-Entry Navigator in the Student Services Division at Spokane Community College. GENERAL DEFINITIONReporting to the WorkForce Transitions Manager, this position plans and manages the support and transition to pre-college and college programs, to increase the colleges' capacity to serve current and former incarcerated students, as well as the development of college and community collaborations that support program goals.Applicants with experience with incarceration or knowledge of the prison system are encouraged to apply. Appointment of the successful candidate to this position may be made contingent upon a satisfactory outcome of a criminal conviction history check.The Re-Entry Navigator will work with Department of Corrections (DOC) officials, Spokane Community College (SCC) Student Services staff, academic counselors, and instructors to assist former incarcerated students with: placement testing, enrollment into courses, navigating student support services, purchasing textbooks, connecting with appropriate student support resources, employment opportunities, and developing a peer mentoring/advising program that will assist students transitioning from incarceration to release into the community.CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOverview:Collaborate with Justice Involved staff on the creation of new initiatives that will improve access and support to currently and formerly incarcerated students in alignment with the college's strategic goals. Collect and conduct program evaluation data and reporting, and incorporate assessment results into planning and decisions that drive continuous service improvement. *Provide holistic programmatic support to formerly incarcerated students based upon their goals and aspirations at SCC and offering connections to state-wide educational navigators for programming outside of the college’s offerings. *Manage student transition for justice involved students at SCC and various locations. Various locations include but are not limited to offsite locations in the Spokane Country Area. Collaborate with current justice involved students, faculty and staff to ensure successful student transition. *Support and advance the CCS strategic plan, and perform other duties as assigned. *Assistance Provided to Transiting Students:Serve as a liaison for transiting students as the primary point of contact for enrollment, registration, financial assistance, career services, testing, student support services and other campus departments at SCC.
