Job Summary

NOTE: This recruitment may be used to hire 4 extra help (no benefits) employees. Up to 5 hours/week in April. Summer schedule starts in May with approximately 20 - 40 hours/week.

Park Worker 1: Guest Services: Performs routine clerical and cashiering duties; unskilled maintenance tasks; and duties related to recreational activities; and other work as required for the Park, Recreation and Golf Department under general supervision.

Maintenance: Performs semi-skilled and skilled maintenance, improvement and repair work of the grounds, buildings, structures, and equipment owned and operated by the Spokane County Parks, Recreation and Golf Department.

Park Worker 2: Performs semi-skilled maintenance tasks; supervisory duties related to recreational activities; routine clerical and cashiering duties; and other work under general supervision for the Park, Recreation, and Golf Department.

Park Worker 3: May perform maintenance tasks requiring considerable skill; may perform supervisory duties over lower level employees performing more complex maintenance, clerical and/or cashiering duties for the Park, Recreation and Golf Department.

Examples of Duties

Park Worker 1:

Guest Services: Assists visitors/campers by providing information about the park, answering questions, explaining rules, and directing traffic of park users to day use areas. Collects entrance fees utilizing point of sale software for transactions. Provides general observation of park maintaining compliance with park rules and cleanliness. Cleans and tidies restrooms and cabins, replenishing supplies and addressing light maintenance issues as needed. Duties may require use of maintenance vehicles. Under general supervision performs unskilled maintenance tasks. Effectively work independently and as a team with park, maintenance and special event staff.

Maintenance: Performs general groundskeeping and maintenance duties for Liberty Lake Regional Park. Maintains and performs interior and exterior custodial services of restrooms and shelters including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, and debris removal. Other duties may include splitting and hauling firewood, mowing, and fertilizing etc. Performs minor repairs within the park, campground, and ORV park.

Park Worker 2: In addition to the duties outlined for Park Worker 1: under general supervision performs semi-skilled maintenance tasks; performs supervisory duties relating to recreational activities including planning, scheduling staff coverage and supervising recreational activities. Works more independently and with greater skill than a Park Worker 1. May operate light duty power equipment. Drives a pickup truck with trailer.

Park Worker 3: In addition to the duties outlined for Park Worker 2: under limited supervision performs maintenance tasks requiring considerable skill; performs supervisory duties over lower-level employees. May serve as supervisor of a park. Conducts more complex special projects and performs a variety of skilled trades and maintenance tasks. Regularly operates medium duty equipment. Conducts minor repairs to power and hand tools and vehicles. May assign, direct and coordinate the work of others, trains unskilled employees.

Minimum Requirements

Park Worker 1: Any combination of training and experience which demonstrates knowledge and abilities for the particular assignment.

Park Worker 2: Any combination of training and experience which demonstrates knowledge and abilities for the particular assignment. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be 3 months experience which demonstrates necessary knowledge and abilities for the particular assignment.

Park Worker 3: Any combination of training and experience which demonstrates knowledge and abilities for the particular assignment. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be 6 months experience which demonstrates necessary knowledge and abilities for the particular assignment. Prior supervisory experience may be required for those positions which have this responsibility.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL POSITIONS

BACKGROUND CHECK: All positions require successful clearance of a Washington State Patrol inquiry as required under the Child and Adult Abuse Information Act.

AGE: Must be at least 16 years of age at time of hire.

NOTE: Softball field prep staff requires a valid Driver's license and hours of work (typically 7.5 hours per day) may range from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. often including weekends.

LICENSE: Certain positions may require a valid driver's license.
