Providence Health Educator Non-Clinical - 0.5 FTE, Variable Shift in Spokane, Washington
Providence is calling a Health Educator Non-Clinical (Community Wellness, Variable Shift, 0.5 FTE, 20 hours per week) to Providence Health Care in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:
Instruct health education courses including but not limited to weight management, diabetes prevention, blood pressure self-management, tobacco cessation, and CPR.
Provide health education programs to groups through presentations, facilitation, and instruction both in-person and virtually.
May provide planning for various basic presentations and programs.
Assist in conducting health screening programs.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with area organizations, public agencies, health care/volunteer organizations, schools, etc., in order to increase program effectiveness and provide for maximization of efforts.
Comply with Providence policies/procedures regarding mandatory in-service training/education, safety and personnel practices. Establish and maintain good rapport with co-workers, guests and external contacts. Maintain a professional demeanor in both conduct and appearance, which reflects positively on the department and Providence.
Responsible for demonstrating an awareness and sensitivity to information, ensuring privacy and confidentiality. Knows basic HIPAA law as it pertains to health plans. All employees of Providence who have direct or indirect access to patient health information must treat that information with the strictest confidence. Any unauthorized access, modification, disclosure or casual discussion of such information shall be considered a violation of this policy and shall be the grounds for disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Community Health, Health Promotion, Health Education, Public Health, or a closely related field
AHA-BLS certification required at time of hire
1 year related experience in the health care field and/or education experience with groups and individuals
1 year experience with latest trends in health education, self-management, and behavior change including through school curriculum
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
1 year experience in teaching adult learners
3 years experience with in-person, phone, and web based behavior change programming
