Job Summary

The Program Support Specialist provides support for Catholic Charities Food for All's food systems. FFA coordinates the pick-up, storage, and delivery of proteins and produce from numerous local farmers to local service providers, pantries, housing programs and more.  This role plays a critical part in ensuring FFA meets timeliness and health standards related to food storage and transport, and preparation as needed.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Frequently transport locally grown fruits, vegetables, and proteins in agency vehicles to food pantries, low-income housing communities, early learning centers, and other partner sites for distribution.

Receive and store products delivered by growers in refrigerated unit.

Assist manager with procurement of products from local vendors.

Document distribution and source of products as needed.

Keep equipment clean, maintained, and in proper working order.

Transport gleaned, purchased, or donated products to refrigerated unit for proper storage.

Glean farmers markets as needed and complete documentation.

Per food safety guidelines, prepare and make accessible produce samples with relevant information to clients at partners sites, including pantries and low-income housing communities.

Per food safety guidelines prepare and serve meals at housing communities.

Research or create recipes for meals and sampling.

Research or create recipes for printing and distribution to partner sites.

Sustain and build relationships with current community partners.

Identify new community partners and assist the Manager with cultivation of relationships.

Notify the Manager of any concerns communicated by partners or their patrons.

Photograph activities and provide data and anecdotes for the Manager to submit for social media and reports.

Support greenhouse activities, such as planting seeds, transplanting, watering, and delivering plants to partner sites.

Provide garden education at housing communities and shelters.

Assist with survey collection as needed.

Complete all relevant training.
