We are hiring an Environmental Specialist Intern to work for our Environmental Services Group.
The Environmental Specialist Intern is an entry-level environmental specialist role to support environmental staff with all aspects of the environmental process, including SEPA and NEPA documentation and permitting projects. This position is responsible for supporting field work and data collection, agency coordination, and preparation of environmental permit applications and technical reports related to SEPA and NEPA compliance documents.
The position requires an individual who has a strong desire to pursue a career in environmental planning and should be enrolled in an environmental studies/science, biology, or similar undergraduate or postgraduate degree program. While applying technical knowledge and skills, this position will:
- Prepare SEPA Checklists, FAA CATEXs, technical memorandums, or reports
- Prepare resource sections of a NEPA analysis
- Prepare and assist in the development of environmental documents and permit applications
- Collect, interpret, and analyze data
- Other duties assigned by the Lead Environmental Specialist
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Biology, or similar
- Understanding or interest in federal, state, and local environmental regulations
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to accurately analyze information, make sound decisions, and meet deadlines
- Well-organized team player, able to coordinate with project team members to ensure that quality work is completed in a timely manner
- Ability to work independently in a self-directed manner
