Nutrition Center Technician - Nutrition Services WA SHMC Spokane Main Tower L3

Shift Details: On-call, Day shift

Under the supervision of the Clinical Nutrition Manager the Nutrition Center Technician (NCT) collaborates with the pediatric dietitians to provide nutritional care to patients. The Nutrition Center Technician is responsible for the preparation and delivery of infant and pediatric formula, and breast milk preparations. Preparation techniques must adhere to all sanitary regulations and standards established by regulating agencies and Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center.

The NCT participates in peer reviews, self-assessment, and continuing education to assure that competency is maintained, demonstrated and improved on, on an ongoing basis.

Individualizes patient care using age related concepts based on the unit population assigned for neonates (0-1 month) infants (1 month to Age 1) toddlers (1-2 years) preschoolers (3-5 years) school age (6-12 years) adolescents (ages 13-17) and adult patients including early adult (ages 18-35) middle adult (ages 36-65) and older adult (ages 66+) by applying age related concepts… including knowledge of growth and development, safety needs, collection and interpretation of data, treatments and nutritional care typically required and participating in the evaluation of care. Utilizes age related concepts when communicating with patients and families, performing nutritional assignments, and when teaching patients/families.

The NCT acts as a liaison between Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) and the assigned nursing units and must be able to work compatibly with coworkers and physicians.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree or Registered with American Dietetic Association as a dietetic technician or registration eligible

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training: Nutrition or health related coursework.

  • Experience with population of ages to be served (infant, toddler, pre-school, school-age child, adolescent) as a clinical dietetic technician.

  • Acute care setting.
