We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join the Corporate Engineering team. The incumbent will report directly to the Sr. Director of Corporate Project Engineering, and will lead various projects at our manufacturing facilities throughout the organization. The experience required for this position is described in greater detail below.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Analyze all facets of proposed projects and provide detailed cost, schedule, and justification estimates to support capital expenditures. Interface with maintenance and production to ascertain and identify operational maintenance problemsandopportunities.Conductengineeringandprojectanalysisandfollow through with major and minor project recommendations, justification and implementation.
Manage all aspects of major projects including design, construction, vendor management, cost tracking, operational interfaces and operations preparation, and startup.
Lead/participate in cross-functional corporate and plant teams investigating opportunities to improve and expand GAF’s processes and products, and business opportunities
Coordinate between contractors, vendors, and GAF to manage, engineer, and implement projects in the smoothest and most efficient manner without causing production delays or upsets.
Develop or assist in developing multi-year strategic plans (operational, infrastructure, and capital) across multiple plants and multiple business units
Serve as subject matter expert (SME) on corporate-wide safety, technical, project management, and/or construction management in strategic planning and plant-level investigations.
Budget manager for major projects and/or strategic capital fund relative to SME
Advanced knowledge of standard manufacturing concepts, practices, & procedures
Advanced ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings
Advanced proficiency using root cause analysis and Kepner-Trego or other structured methods to troubleshoot and solve problems
Advanced ability to translate technical data into a format/language suitable for operations and maintenance personnel
Experience in process hazard analysis and process safety management
Advanced knowledge of engineering fundamentals
Advanced proficiency in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatics
Job / General knowledge/skills:
Demonstrated leadership in terms of capital project planning, development, and execution including conceptual design, detailed design, construction and installation coordination, technical training, and turnover, start-up support, and sustained ownership.
Demonstrated experience in hiring/training/coaching employees and performance management
Advanced knowledge of/expereince with manufacturing analysis tools, such as statistical analysis/statistical process control (SPC), process capability studies, lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, Kepner-Tregoe, and/or Design of Experiments (DOE)
Advanced knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations
Advanced demonstrated communications skills; written, verbal, and listening skills
Advanced analytical skills
Under This Roof, We Require
- A BS Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical with Mechanical preferred) coupled with a minimum of 10 years project management experience.
Under This Roof, We Also Value
10 years in a roofing products manufacturing organization - (preferred)
The ideal candidate will have a proven background in managing projects with budgets of $1M - $20MM.
Demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplines as project manager and supervise others as a lead engineer.
Demonstrated ability to work with and provide expertise in maintenance, operations, and process.
Willingness and ability to travel 50-60%.
Thorough knowledge and experience with computers and Gsuite/MSOffice. Drafting experience with CAD, preferably Auto CAD, is preferred.
The preferred location for the position is the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, however the company will consider other locations provided they are within one hour of a large or major airport.

Annual Salary Range: 175,500-224,250
