Career Path Services Child Care Navigator in Spokane, Washington

Successful Child Care Navigators are dedicated to delivering personalized support services to people in need. You'll coordinate support for childcare assistance across the Spokane Workforce Development Campus to assist individuals or families interested in participating in education or employment opportunities to find and secure childcare.

*[This position is temporary with a project end date of 11/15/2024]{.underline}, and has the possibility of being extended dependent on future funding outcomes.  This position is full time, includes benefits, and the work will be in-person based at our office in Spokane WorkSource. *

[ABOUT THE JOB]{.underline}

  • Reach and invite customers through initial engagement to apply for services at quantities and qualities that lead to exceeding enrollment goals and produce program outcomes.
  • Regularly direct outreach with all sites on the Spokane WorkSource Campus (Next Generation Zone, WorkSource Spokane and Resource Center of Spokane County) to connect with any customer who has childcare as a barrier. Work with them 1:1, screen for state childcare assistance eligibility, before enrolling in our childcare initiative.
  • Coordinate with each family's Career Coach/Career Specialist to ensure training/work goals are being addressed and there's a sustainability plan for the family's childcare needs beyond scope of program.
  • Create childcare sustainability plans and maintain plans for all enrolled customers.
  • Screen applications for eligibility for programs/funding streams within the WorkSource Campus for employment assistance and other support service needs.
  • Perform data entry for all customers in state database and process vouchers/payments for all customers for direct childcare.
  • As needed assist families in navigating the application process for Friends, Family, and Neighbor (FFN) care.
  • Work to reduce wait time and connect families to other value-added community services / resources as quickly as possible. Stay current on all WorkSource programs, workshops, and activities and refers guests to appropriate resources as needed. Liaise with those in the community working on a new database for connecting families with available childcare openings.
  • Develop, expand, and maintain working relationships with partners, employers, and fund sources that achieve desired outcomes by identifying needs, developing solutions, establishing goals, and executing plans. Timely, consistent, and professional communication is essential to the success of the program.
