Job DescriptionSupports Asset Maintenance CPC’s by generating maps and diagrams and format maps used to facilitate construction of electric distribution projects. Updates and maintains GIS data related to Avista’s electric infrastructure to align with as-built designs. Collaborates with cross-functional teams such as Substation, Transmission, Engineering, Compliance, Dispatch, Gas, and Electric Operations to provide up to date GIS infrastructure data and ensure mapping compliance requirements are met.
Responsibilities
Reads, interprets and configures traceable elements from various sources such as services, temps, meters, trouble reports, as-builts, blues, underground (ug) developments, overhead/underground reconductor jobs,
Reviews and translates completed designs in a geo database to produce maps and visual print outs used for work instruction in electrical distribution project.
Responds to mapping and data requests with internal customers in a professional manner. Uses built in QA/QC tools on construction designs posted into default to ensure correct application of construction standards, AFM connectivity, and appropriate materials. Responsible for the health of the utility GIS data.
Reconciles discrepancies/problems between field inventory and other source documents utilizing construction standards knowledge. Understands how to resolve design conflicts in a multi-versioned GIS environment.
Provides feedback and moderate technical assistance to design personnel (CPC’s, gas and electric engineering and other GIS users) in properly utilizing AFM and the Design tools.
Tests proposed AFM code releases for functionality, completeness, connectivity, direct and/or hidden errors and determine where errors may impact data interaction.
Performs regression testing during software updates. Also tests new software code and integrations with GIS.
Provides troubleshooting, maintenance, and updates for Designer stored displays. Updates symbology, file pathways, layers viewed and updates of new layers.
Collaborates with local Edit group to prioritize work to meet the service level agreements with internal customers.
Requirements
GIS certification.
Specialized knowledge, experience and training on construction standards for electrical and gas distribution systems.
GIS Specialist I:
2 years of related experience.
GIS Specialist II:
4 years of related experience.
GIS Specialist III:
- 5+ years related experience.
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Hybrid work options are available for this role. The successful candidate will be required to work at our Spokane, Washington headquarters at least 3 days per week including Mondays and Tuesdays with an additional day determined by the employee and manager.
