Position Summary: The Applications Engineer supports engineering services to our Account Executives and owner customers throughout the Pacific Northwest. This position primarily assists Account Executives with equipment selection & system design across all company product offering. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: *HVAC systems design and application of our manufacturer’s product lines *Problem solving using basic mechanical engineering principles & equations *Troubleshooting to help solve field problems *Equipment selection using software & pricing programs *Thorough understanding of local & national codes/standards that apply to our industry & affect our equipment *Understanding & staying up on industry trends as it relates to systems & equipment we sell *Sales support, including giving general & job specific presentations *Design support to include: accommodating all customer design criteria, trade coordination/fitment, budget pricing, energy analysis & life cycle costing *Basis of design support to include: generating schedules, plans, & specification *Bid preparation to include: costing of equipment to match plans/specs, optimizing of costs & competitive analysis, proposal preparation as it relates to inclusions & exclusions *Submittal generation *Field installation/commissioning coordination support *Organizational skills *Ability to multitask *Good customer service skills *Performs other duties as assigned. A.) in engineering or a related field from four-year College or university; or two to four years related experience in the HVAC industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience and/or current skills must include: Superior problem solving skills, sound fundamentals in science & math, proven ability to manage detail on multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team, and strong interpersonal skills. Certificates and Licenses: No specific certificates or licenses required. Computer Skills: Proficient at Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other Office Suite programs. Ability to work in selection software & skilled with the internet, and Proficiency in BlueBeam is a plus. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, Ability to write technical responses. Must be a good communicator. Ability to read plans & specifications is key. Ability to present in front of an audience (example; lunch & learns on manufacturer’s product we represent). Math & Science Skills: Ability to form equations to solve engineering & science problems. Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles as they relate to HVAC is a must. Ability to communicate answers/solutions to customers is a must. Reasoning Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a
