Summary This position is assigned to the Suicide Prevention Program in Behavioral Health Service at the Mann-Grandstaff VAMC in Spokane, WA. The incumbent provides program support and coordinates outreach services throughout rural and remote areas of North Idaho, NW Montana and Northeast Washington, to the local community and at Stand Down events in rural and remote areas. Responsibilities Incumbent gathers data, initiates reports, delivers presentations and provides recommendations to the Suicide Prevention Coordinator and/or supervisor to improve program efficiency and effectiveness. Major duties include but are not limited to: Serves as an active member of the Suicide Prevention Program Team. Plans and schedules outreach events and coordinates outreach services to rural areas, organizations, and events. Manages an outreach calendar, tracks outreach events and prepares reports as requested. Provides training and information to VA staff, other federal agencies, and community agencies regarding Suicide Prevention and VA resources. Gathers data, tracks information, provides program support, obtains and organizes files, and retrieves information and numerical data for use in preparing status reports, briefings, and presentations. Assists the Suicide Prevention Coordinator with data reporting, data entry, and development of reports and other documents. Assists in developing data reports requiring some data analysis, compilation, and examination of the methods used in collection. Analyzes records and data collected through the Suicide Prevention Program for detail and accuracy. Leads in the collection and analysis of the data, tracks outcomes, and assists in the development of reports of such. Reviews data and performance monitors being tracked to ensure the usefulness of the data. Tracks local statistics for suicide completions and attempts, including means and other relevant data for local statistics. Incumbent generates and transmits monthly, quarterly and annual reports. Uses the Veterans Health Information and Technology Architecture (VistA) and other relevant programs to access information in the Medical Center Computer System. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: For GS-6 grade level: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Specialized experience includes: Preparing reports, correspondences, researches files, and assembles background information. Plans and schedules outreach events and coordinates outreach services to rural areas, organizations, and events. Uses word processing software to execute several office automation functions such as storing and retrieving electronic documents and files; formatting letters, reports, and memoranda; and transmitting and receiving e-mail. Knowledge of medical terminology. Proficient with office automation such as Microsoft word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Publisher, and ProClarity. Knowledge of services, programs, procedures, and filing practices used in the Medical Center. OR Applicants may substitute education for the experience required for the GS-06 level. As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.
