At BFS, a General Manager oversees all aspects of a location to achieve maximum sales and profits with available resources by performing the following duties: Responsible for the overall sales (professional and retail), operations, production, delivery, purchasing, and inventory control of the location. Oversees the daily operations of the location. Oversees the development and implementation of inventory control programs to meet location inventory levels and turns. Involved in the recruiting, hiring, and training process. Motivates employees, maintains a productive workforce, and trains successor management. Reviews and approves wage and salary increases and establishes objectives and performance measures. Recommends capital improvements in view of forecasted demand for various products, efficiency of current equipment, etc. Institutes a cost-effective vehicle and equipment maintenance program. Reports obsolete equipment/facilities and submits recommendations regarding replacements or improvements. Supports and reinforces company safety initiatives to ensure compliance with all OSHA and DOT requirements. Responsible for budget accountability and reporting as it pertains to the financial goals of the company. This position manages subordinate supervisors in various departments. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university. Four years related managerial experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have prior experience in building materials industry, in particular Trusses and Components.
