As an Engineering Intern, you will report to a mentor who will assign you tasks that contribute to the disciplined development of medical devices or the support of an existing medical device. All work performed will be assigned, supervised, and approved by your mentor. Your engagement will depend on and leverage the engineering coursework you have completed. The more senior your progress through your formal technical education, the more advanced tasks you will be assigned by your mentor. We encourage cross-functional collaboration with all of the disciplines required for a commercially successful product. You will observe team meetings commensurate with your experience and assignments by your mentor. Responsibilities RESPONSIBILITIES and GOALS: Under the supervision of an engineer mentor Perform tests that are specifically defined for the particular task. Create new engineering test documents. Participate in the review and improvement of existing documents. Apply your engineering education to the development of new tools that support product and sustaining engineering projects. Apply your engineering education to the contribution of engineering designs for new and existing products. Develop new engineering documentation in compliance with medical device regulations specific to disciplined design controls. If capable create software test scripts that automate tasks. If capable, create mechanical prototype models using 3D printing. If capable, create C++, Java, or Python code for unit testing. Document all work in accordance with good design practices for which you will receive training. Provide support in troubleshooting and resolving design defect issues. Qualifications Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in one of the following engineering disciplines: Biomedical Engineering Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Familiarity with the medical device development lifecycle and testing methodologies is a plus. You will be trained in the Spacelabs methodology. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
