We're looking for a Registered Nurse 2 *to join our team to provide comprehensive services to juvenile residents, working toward the common goal of eliminating child and youth outcome disparities based on race and ethnicity. We need your nursing skills to provide professional nursing services for youth committed to a secure juvenile rehabilitation institution. You will be an important member of the Health Center Team; treating residents according to physician orders, and encouraging resident accountability using the integrated treatment plan. Some of what you'll do * Provide professional nursing services including planning, assessing, diagnosing, implementing, and evaluating nursing care. * Communicate with the oncoming nurse, supervisor, or administration regarding outcomes and provide and/or facilitate follow-up as appropriate. * Assist administration, supervisor, physicians, and treatment care providers with the implementation of ITM and CBT/DBT treatment programming. * Assist administration and supervisor with duties/projects. * Educate and counsel youth, families, and staff regarding medical and mental health care. * Provide pre- and post-HIV test counseling including STI and Making Proud Choices curriculum and prenatal education. * Provide medical case management for youth with chronic or acute conditions; communicate with and instruct non-medical agency staff on treatment and care of youth. * Work with medical community providers, families/guardians, JR treatment Team, and other interdepartmental agencies to provide continuity of care. * Prepare and file medical documents; schedule appointments; perform basic data entry and retrieval functions using an electronic management information system. * Perform medical and psychiatric case management. * Provide Medication Assistance Training to Cottage Staff. * Monitor medication assistance by cottage staff. * Recognize and report risk indicators by youth. * Collaborate with other medical and treatment staff to assure appropriate care delivery occurs throughout the continuum of care for JR youth from entry into the institution through transition to community facilities and/or discharge from JR care. * Provide professional nursing services including, but not limited to direct patient care such as assessment, evaluation, and interventions relating to medical and/or psychiatric conditions: remain calm and in control in emergency health care situations. * Provide first aid and first response emergency medical services for youth, visitors, and other employees. * Administer prescribed medications; implement physician’s treatment orders assist with procedures as needed. * Perform initial medical screening for youth at intake. * Implement infection control, Vaccine for Children VFC, and employee health and wellness programs. * Follow the Washington State Nurse Practice ACT, Treatment Protocols, RN Medication Protocol and the RN Controlled Medication Protocol. * Follow applicable pharmacy and nurse practice act standards. * Provide quality assurance to the medication program. Who should apply? Graduates from an accredited school of nursing who possess an unencumbered Registered Nurse License to practice in the State of Washington. We are looking for someone who can work independently as an RN with little supervision and preferably a year of nursing experience. How can I apply?
