As a Parts Counter Specialist on our growing team, you are contributing to the success of the company by taking responsibility for the sale of truck parts and accessories by researching customer requirements, controlling parts inventory, processing invoices and payment, and managing return cores and warranty parts. Duties/Responsibilities:
- - Answer incoming phone calls to the parts department and ensure a successful customer experience.
- - Maintain records of lost sales due to unavailability of parts.
- - Maintain inventory on shelves and in bins by ordering items needed to be reordered, identifying any discrepancies in stock levels and returning unsold items to stock.
- - Respond to sales calls and customer counter visits thoroughly and professionally.
- - Utilize computer business systems and electronic catalogues to research parts information.
- - Provide customer pricing and availability (in-stock or emergency order).
- - Process parts invoices and obtain payment.
- - Process returned items by inspecting items, returning payment, issuing credit, re-shelving items, and returning items to suppliers.
- - Maintain an attractive parts retail display area.
- - Enhance job knowledge by continually participating in online training modules and supplier training on new product features, advantages, and benefits.
- - Manage customer requests for parts warranty and administer according to supplier procedures.
- - Contact customers (telemarketing) regarding parts promotional opportunities.
- - Represent the Company in a professional and courteous manner when interacting with customers.
- - Requisition non-stock or special-order parts. Follow up on special ordered items and notify the customer when received. Locate out-of-stock parts from outside sources and submit an emergency order, if necessary.
- - Assist in the shipment of products if needed.
- - Other duties as assigned by leadership.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- - Ability to work independently without direct on-site supervision.
- - Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- - Heavy-duty truck aptitude.
- - Strong organization, communication, and phone skills.
- - Demonstrate exceptional sales, customer service, and time management skills.
- - Ability to be extremely well organized, resourceful, and self-motivated.
- - Ability to problem solve and make appropriate business decisions with little guidance.
Education and Experience
- - High school graduate, GED, or 1 year of work experience.
- - 1 year of direct customer facing sales experience preferred.
