Central Kitsap School District Maintenance Technician - Plumber in Silverdale, Washington

For your application to be considered, you MUST apply on our Maintenance Technician – Plumber Position Description: As a maintenance technician in our Grounds, Maintenance, and Custodial Department, you will serve students and staff in a public education setting. Your charge is to provide outstanding and consistent plumbing technician services for our customers. You will demonstrate both quality customer service and technical expertise by maintaining, servicing, and repairing plumbing: repairing pipes, fittings, fixures pertaining to heat, water and drainage systems. With the direction of the grounds and maintenance supervisor team, you will help shape, maintain, and enhance a culture of safety, positivity, partnership, and inclusion. As such, you will team with other maintenance technicians and trades as directed by the grounds, maintenance, and custodial administrators. Key Qualifications: *Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people in a multicultural and diverse socio-economic setting *Ability to utilize technology tools and resources to increase communication effectiveness (e.g., email, SchoolDude, Word, Google, video systems, etc.) *High school diploma or equivalent *Minumum of three years’ experience diagnosing, repairing, installing, and replacing plumbing systems and components *Valid Washington State driver license *Valid Washington State Backflow Assemblers License or the ability to obtain one within 180 days upon hire *Experience with computers and related hardware. *Demonstrate expertise in: diagnostics, repair, and replacement of plumbing systems and components *Maintenance experience in glazing, painting, electrical, alarms, and HVAC systems is desirable. *Training in CPR and First Aid Certification as required by the District. *Willing to take any further training as required. Key Responsibilities: OPERATIONAL *Consistently employ sound judgment in all situations *Work cooperatively with staff and colleagues *Exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality *Install general plumbing systems and maintain and repair existing systems. *Install, maintain, and repair various types of water heating and low pressure boiler units and systems. *Install water and waste piping. *Tap water, sewer mains, and laterals *Repair and replace pipes and control valves, fitting and a variety of other fixtures and devices. *Cut, thread pipes, and join pipes and lines utilizing a variety of techniques. *Clean and remove obstructions from drains, water, and sewer systems. *Test safety equipment and boiler water for proper mineral content. *May install and maintain backflow devices to ensure that potable water lines are protected against backflow. *May maintain and repair swimming pool equipment. *Requisition, order, and maintain and adequate inventory of plumbing related parts supplies and materials; estimate labor and material costs. *Operate motor vehicles to and from work sites. *Coordinate and direct the work of other maintenance personnel. *Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and District staff. *Uphold and assist in enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and board policy. *Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. *Requires the use of multiple communication and technology systems, which may include electronic mail,
