The Toxics Cleanup Program{rel="nofollow"} (TCP) within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill an Environmental Inspector (Environmental Specialist 3) *position. This position is located in our Northwest Region Office (NWRO) in Shoreline, WA{rel="nofollow"}.{rel="nofollow"} *Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.

 

*Please Note: *The salary posted above includes the additional 5% premium pay that this position will receive due to this position's location in King County.

This is the perfect position for someone who enjoys working out in the fresh air, and desires to help prevent pollution of our soil and water.   As an Environmental Inspector, you will inspect and provide oversight of underground storage tanks (UST) systems. You'll have the opportunity to cultivate relationships with gas station owners throughout the region, help them better understand why monitoring of their USTs is so important, and ensure that their testing and monitoring fall within our state regulations. You'll work with UST site owners to maintain compliance, focusing on education, and when necessary, issuing enforcement actions. We are looking for applicants who enjoy working independently, are self-starters, and have the ability to interact effectively with the public and communicate with a diverse audience. *Telework options for this position: *This position will have flexibility of a hybrid schedule. In addition to field work three to four days per month, this position will be eligible for a telework schedule, with a minimum of one day every two weeks in the office after the completion of the probationary period. During the first few months of training, most of the time will be in the office and in the field with some teleworking. The field work may include travel within King, Skagit, Snohomish, Island, and Kitsap counties.
