Description

The individual assigned to this classification provides administrative and technical duties related to candidates and voter outreach. This classification is primarily responsible for assisting in all duties required to conduct elections, maintain voter registration and promote education programs.  This position assists in the planning and coordination of the technical aspects of the election process. This position prepares and disseminates information materials to encourage citizen participation in the election process.

Examples of Duties

Serves as primary staff for election-related public information and outreach activities coordinating with other staff, agencies and organizations.   Maintains and updates the Auditor's Office web presence, ensuring that information is up to date and designed and presented based upon modern standards.   Provides content for social media programs related to election activities.   Coordinates speaking engagements for election and outreach programs.   Produces written materials including fact sheets, displays, brochures and other educational and promotional materials.   Assists Superintendent in all technical operations of voter registration and elections.    Enters registration data into computer, audits data entry, researches and resolves discrepancies or errors, and issues voter identification cards. Maintains a working knowledge of the voter registration system.    Assists with the election process by issuing replacement ballots, receiving incoming mail ballots, verifying voters' signatures, opening ballots, inspecting ballots, and scanning ballots.   Accurately and timely proofreads all election material including voting and outreach materials.   Assists with candidate filing activities including: information for candidates, online voters' guide statement guidelines and publishing the online voter's guide.                                               Assists with logic and accuracy tests and preparation of computer programming to be used for tabulation of ballots and election return information. Monitors internal processing techniques, as well as public response to forms, and recommends changes to Superintendent.   Implements changes required by Federal and State law within areas of responsibility and documents changes in department procedures manual.   Attends conferences, meetings, and trainings, as required.   May assist with work overflow for special, primary or general elections, as needed, in areas such as election setup, ballot layout, certification of election, candidate filings, and election result reporting.   Regular, reliable and punctual attendance.    Assists in other areas of the office, as requested, and performs other work as required. 

Minimum Qualifications

Associates Degree or a combination of education and experience. Two (2) years of office experience, including interaction with the public, outreach, public relations or website design. Must be willing to work overtime to assist in the preparation and coordination of elections.   Knowledge of:
