Janicki Industries Inc. Transportation Coordinator in Sedro-Woolley, Washington

Janicki Industries is an innovative, family-owned aerospace company located at the foot of the Cascades. We focus on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for companies in the aerospace, defense, and space industries. We are looking for a Transportation Coordinator to join our growing team.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position is located on-site in - Sedro-Woolley, Washington State.  Training will take place in Hamilton, Washington State.

It is the responsibility of the Transportation Coordinator to perform daily shipping activities. The Transportation Coordinator may also arrange for transport between different Janicki locations or Janicki customers worldwide.

This position has two levels, Level I utilizes and perfects the essential job functions. Level II will act as back-up for the Level I position, perform some higher level Transportation functions, and assist the Transportation Manager with various tasks and projects as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS LEVEL I

  • Processes small package, common carrier, LTL, and full truckload shipments
  • Processes shipments using customer specific portals
  • Obtains rate quotes for the Sales Department
  • Prepares standard and HAZMAT bill of ladings
  • Disperses shipping documents and complete post shipping procedures
  • Provides outstanding levels of customer service
  • Maintains effective relationships with shipping companies
  • Performs other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS LEVEL II (in addition to back-up for Level I)

  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with shipping companies
  • Negotiates rates and services with trucking companies and international freight forwarders
  • Arranges for Pilot cars as necessary and all DOT permits as required
  • Tracks and keeps DOT permits current
  • Prepares Customs paperwork for shipments in and out of the U.S.
  •  Approves Transportation invoices for the Accounts Payable function
  • Sends various receiving tickets to the Accounts Receivable function
  • Files and monitors Freight Claims
  • Schedules Washington State Patrol for oversize and super loads
  • Coordinates employee moves with various moving companies
  • Will train and supervise the Level I Transportation Coordinator
  • Assists the Transportation Manager oversee the fuel card, vehicle maintenance, and vehicle licensing programs

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  •  High school diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • At least 1 year performing clerical duties and data entry
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in the English language
