The UW College of Education has an outstanding opportunity for a Web Content Specialist. This is a full-time staff position within the College of Education within the Information and Learning Technologies unit. This position reports to the ILT Director and serves as a writer, media producer, and manager for our college’s websites. Following the lead of the Content Strategy team, this person will produce engaging content to promote the College’s mission and strategic needs and will work with content area leaders and subject matter experts to keep content fresh and consistent.

The successful candidate can manage numerous stakeholder relationships and think strategically and creatively. This position is responsible for managing the user experience, content strategy, and all forms of content on the COE website. It contributes to building internal and external awareness of the College, its programs, and its impact on the community and beyond. This person is instrumental in communicating and recruiting with our web audience, attracting promising students and world-class faculty and staff to join our vibrant College.

Experience with Drupal, WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, and multimedia production techniques, as well as an understanding of communications strategy, website analytics, and other metrics, is beneficial to success in the role.

This position does not provide relocation support.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop content for our public-facing website, intranet, and other platforms as needed. This person will lead the effort to maintain a consistent UX and overall site design.

  • Contribute to content strategy development and execution, creating content and materials to support the College’s mission and community. Coordinate with content area leads and subject matter experts to gather the required information and to consistently implement the new information architecture.

  • Add and update content, monitor and review websites, assist in locating and producing specific media assets as needed, and coordinate with marketing and communications to ensure content alignment and placement as needed.

  • Assess stakeholder requests for website updates and changes; identify content issues and work with content owners to resolve them; and maintain editorial calendars and content migration plans.

  • Use or adapt existing templates to create digital content that conforms to UW brand standards.

  • Manage content review processes for deliverables produced.

  • Draft reports and analyze data using Google Analytics to inform ongoing communications strategies; propose new ways and strategies to reach target audiences; weave strategic thinking into everything we do. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Media or Communications OR minimum of 4 years in a Communication or writing role

  • Five+ years of experience producing and/or managing original and compelling online content. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Familiarity with Content Management System (CMS) technology

  • Experience creating content for various audiences, including students, donors, and academics.

  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders to create cohesive content.

  • Multicultural sensitivity and commitment to promoting diversity.

  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability and flexibility to work independently in a team environment, juggling multiple responsibilities under pressure while maintaining grace and humor.

  • Enthusiasm for working with students, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds.

  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with HTML and content management systems, primarily Drupal.

  • Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Graphic design experience.

  • Experience using Google Analytics or other communication analytics tools.

  • Professional demeanor. Strong time management and organizational skills while on tight deadlines and working on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Experience writing, implementing, and improving content strategies.

  • Experienced in content development with a proven ability to write engaging copy.

  • Experience copy editing to ensure it meets channel needs and editorial standards.

  • Adept at generating ideas and solving problems.
