AWS is looking for a results-oriented individual with SQL familiarity to join the AWS water infrastructure team. In this role, you will oversee development of key business metrics that drive our water use efficiency, forecasting, and assurance processes in the Americas. You will work with our Colocation datacenter business partners on collecting water use data from facilities not owned or operated by AWS. You will track and manage water utility monthly operations spend and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements. You will work with engineers, water resource managers and water sustainability leads on ad-hoc requests for tracking water risk and availability metrics, water efficiency, and sustainability data, developing automated dashboards that inform our water business operations. Key job responsibilities

The AWS Water Business Analyst will be responsible for the following:

• Collect and actively monitor metering data at all datacenter locations against utility bills in the Americas.

• Enable effective water strategy decision making by retrieving and aggregating data from multiple sources and compiling it into a digestible format.

• Work with internal teams to trouble shoot problems and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action (CA) for any delayed utility or water team vendor payments.

• Work with local water utilities and regional engineers to understand and coordinate site utility metering requirements

• Oversee the collection of all water footprint data to support water sustainability program assurance, including interfacing with auditors for independent verification purposes

• Provide metrics and data visualizations for bi-weekly meetings tracking infrastructure delivery, colocation water use and data collection completion, and cost models

• Up to 10% travel as needed for project execution and coordination.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL (all join types, group by, pivot, calculated columns), or data analytics tools

  • Proficiency in data visualization tools such as AWS Quicksight or Tableau to build interactive and user-friendly dashboards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Economics, Urban Planning, or Business Analytics Experience working with land developers, planners, engineers, and utility systems for the purpose of master site planning and coordination of water impact fees or connection charges

  • Strong knowledge of SQL and/or entry level knowledge of Python or other cloud-based data analytics tools such as AWS Redshift, AWS QuickSight, or Tableau

  • Some familiarity with how utilities invoice for water use and/or establish a basis for their utility rates

  • Analytical mindset that can identify gaps in requirements during project development, predict performance, and provide recommendations for how to improve datasets and dashboards used in business decision-making

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $50,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $107,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
