Description

Amazon is looking for a team-oriented, highly analytical and passionate business leader to join the Sports & Outdoors team. The Vendor Manager will be responsible for developing and managing a dynamic business in our Outdoor Equipment category. This role is responsible for vendor relationship management and negotiations, driving sales/marketing/promotions, implementing operational performance improvements and creating a world class customer experience. The candidate will own their categories from start to finish and will be responsible for meeting the following targets: revenue and margin growth, selection count, in-stock rate, inventory turnover as well as leading process/efficiency improvement targets. In addition, this position is expected to provide leadership across categories - driving systems, process, and customer experience improvements that will benefit all customers at amazon.com.

The successful Vendor Manager must be able to:

  • Contribute to a strategy for the business and break it down into actionable goals

  • Understand drivers of and opportunities for the category P&L

  • Manage relationships with vendors

  • Institute best practices and processes which can be replicated across all categories

  • Lead change with cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external partners, while meeting tight deadlines

Key job responsibilities

  • Conduct financial analysis of business opportunities to meet and exceed revenue and profitability targets.

  • Category strategy and ownership: Work closely with Leadership on planning and business strategy, drive best-in-class customer experience and maximize unit and revenue growth through timely analysis and action.

  • Vendor management: Identify and lead new vendor partnerships, manage large Sellers and enhance overall Seller experience with better self-service and reporting resources.

  • Lead change with cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders, while meeting tight deadlines.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of with Excel experience

  • 5+ years of retail, operations, product or program management, or business management/consulting with negotiations and delivering results experience

  • Bachelor's degree, or 3+ years of professional or military experience

  • Experience with financial analysis and P&L ownership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing large data sets and utilizing to drive performance and process improvements

  • Experience in vendor negotiations, pricing and promotion, inventory management, and product development

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $58,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $141,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
