Kimley-Horn Transit Engineer in Seattle, Washington

Overview

Kimley-Horn's Seattle, Washington (WA) office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 6+ years of experience to join their Transit Team! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of transit engineers and technicians, providing mentorship and guidance to ensure project success. Oversee the planning, design, and implementation of transit projects, including bus rapid transit (BRT), light rail transit (LRT), and other multimodal transportation systems. Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to understand project objectives, develop scope and budget, and deliver high-quality solutions that meet their needs. Conduct technical analyses, prepare design plans, specifications, and cost estimates, and oversee construction administration activities. Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continually enhance the firm's transit engineering capabilities. Foster strong relationships with clients, partners, and regulatory agencies to facilitate project approvals and maintain positive working relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree OR Masters Degree in the field of Engineering

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in state of Washington required

  • 6+ years of experience in transit engineering, including hands-on design and project management

  • Proven experience in managing and leading teams, with a track record of successful project delivery

  • Strong technical knowledge and proficiency in transit planning, design, and operations

  • Experience communicating and working with clients

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders

  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil3D

Salary Range:

  • $105,000 - $140,000

  • Eligible for performance based bonus compensation
