Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an experienced technology PR expert to join its Industries Communications team. The AWS Telco, Energy, and Industries Communications lead will be responsible for executing high-impact, integrated public relations (PR) campaigns that showcase how leading telecom and energy companies are innovating with AWS. We are looking for a candidate that has experience managing multifaceted proactive and news-cycle driven media relations campaigns.

The candidate should have in-depth media relations expertise, including but not limited to, securing top tier, tech, and trade press opportunities, driving influential stories from beginning to end, executing event strategies, and engaging non-traditional and traditional influencers, and working with customers to develop compelling storylines. This position requires an understanding of the intersection of technology and regulated industries to execute creative PR plans with high-impact results. The Telco, Energy, and Industries Communications lead will work across multiple teams, with sometimes competing stakeholders, resulting in a steady cadence of coverage, press engagement, and awareness of cloud computing’s transformational impact in the industry.

Key job responsibilities

  • Creating and executing proactive, creative, and integrated PR campaigns that align with a pioneering technology business

  • Developing high-level media strategies that align resources and create a cadence of PR opportunities that elevate the AWS story with reporters

  • Managing complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communications challenges with high judgment and professionalism

  • Managing relationships with reporters and influencers across the telecom and energy industries

  • Developing stories with customers and partners about their journey to AWS and use of AWS services

  • Cultivating relationships with customer PR teams, top tier business, tech, and trade reporters

  • Crafting compelling story ideas, content, and messaging

  • Leading media programs around AWS-owned and industry/customer/partner events

  • Managing PR agencies

A day in the life

You will need to understand the intersection of technology and the telco and energy industries to execute high-impact and creative PR plans. You will work across multiple teams, sometimes with competing stakeholders, to produce a steady cadence of coverage, influence conversations, press engagement, and awareness of cloud computing’s transformational impact across industries. In this role, you will have an opportunity to support creative programs that are worthy of a company that continues to pioneer the cloud.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or a related field

  • Experience working with high-level executives at large technology companies

  • Track record in communications or PR for high-profile enterprise software/systems companies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Outstanding attention to detail, understanding of technology, and ability to communicate complex topics effectively

  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $120,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $224,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
