Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to manage multiple large-scale programs for our most sensitive regions.

Technical Program Managers handle the heavy lifting of making sure that large scale programs and projects in AWS are driven efficiently and effectively. You will be responsible for identifying the stakeholders, driving to set roadmaps and strategies for the program, driving delivery, reporting status, and holding the bar on quality. You will need to work with many teams in different domains and will work effectively with engineers, engineering managers, product managers, dev support teams and customer service teams to deliver results. This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen. The candidate selected must obtain and maintain a security clearance at the TS/SCI with polygraph level. Upon start, the selected candidate will be sponsored for a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage multiple high-profile programs and projects across multiple supporting teams to deliver outcomes under commitments to senior AWS leaders and senior customer leaders

  • Analyze large data sets to identify complex patterns and relationships resulting in practical solutions to real business problems

  • Be willing to “get your hands dirty” in a start-up environment to act as change agent and create new applications, tools, processes as needed

  • Anticipate bottlenecks, providing escalation management and making tradeoffs

  • Evangelize within AWS to encourage a fast and smooth adoption of initiatives and programs.

  • Earn trust through regular communication with senior management on program status and risks

  • Own the metrics for project success and define, measure and report on these metrics.

On a “typical” day, our TPMs may dive deep to find the root cause of a customer issue, investigate why a metric is trending in the wrong direction, or discuss radical new approaches to automate operational processes. As a member of our team you will join a dedicated group of builders who provide troubleshooting and operations support, and innovate to automate operational tasks.

About the team

Region Services (RS) Operations – Corporate Infrastructure mission is twofold; owns and drives strategic, operational and tactical initiatives that improve Amazon Dedicated Clouds (ADC) operations by designing, operating and managing secure spaces including Remote Management Facilities (RMFs) and Remote Management Administration (RM&A) air-

gapped environments. Our solutions support worldwide ADC operations teams to consume RM&A, RMF, and air-gapped Microsoft back office and Windows desktop operational designs, tooling, and build plans.

Our core objective is to breakdown the complexity of building and operating first-class secure spaces posturing Amazon as the premiere cloud service provider for customers requiring secure computing solutions.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 3+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 5+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps

  • Experience managing technical programs across cross-functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $197,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
