Amazon Technical Program Manager, Amazon Simple Email Service in Seattle, Washington

Description

Join Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) to help our customers to engage their users and build their business. We're the group that already delivers billions of emails around the world every day. As a Technical Program Manager for the Amazon SES Deliverability team, you will drive and coordinate the implementation and delivery of new Amazon SES features intended for email senders and receivers to build stronger relationships with their own customers. This is a unique opportunity to build out new email deliverability improvements and detection mechanisms to help thousands of AWS customers and impacting millions of people around the world.

In this role, you will collaborate with teams across AWS to define and deliver complex programs designed to deliver customer-focused services and features. You will balance business objectives with technical constraints, and champion customer needs. You will work with business teams to define strategy and requirements; lead cross-functional development teams from design through delivery; and manage the timelines to enable the service to continuously deliver innovations to our customers.

Key job responsibilities

  • Monitor email delivery metrics and performance across all email campaigns and programs

  • Identify and troubleshoot delivery issues, working with email service providers and mailbox providers to improve inbox placement

  • Implement and optimize email authentication protocols like SPF, DKIM, and DMARC to improve email reputation and deliverability

  • Maintain email sender reputation by monitoring blacklists, blocklists, and IP/domain reputation scores

  • Analyze email performance data to provide recommendations for improving deliverability and engagement

  • Stay up-to-date on email industry trends, best practices, and changes in spam filtering algorithms

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external teams to ensure email program success

  • Develop and document email deliverability best practices and train internal teams

  • Set email deliverability goals and KPIs, tracking performance against targets

About the team

On the Amazon SES Deliverability & Enforcement team, we build strong industry relationships and champion secure email delivery. Our mission is to combat spam, phishing, and low-quality email sending by establishing strategic partnerships and advocating best practices across the Amazon Email ecosystem, ensuring a safe and reliable experience for all users.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 3+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 2+ years of email deliverability knowledge.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of email authentication mechanisms.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of email sending best practices.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $197,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
