Amazon Technical Infrastructure Program Manager, Corporate Infrastructure Services (CIS) Strategy in Seattle, Washington

Description

The Corporate Infrastructure Services (CIS) Strategy team, as part of the CIS organization, is responsible for delivering IT Infrastructure projects of non-standard infrastructure solutions, global IT Infrastructure initiatives across Corporate spaces worldwide and service improvement programs (SIP) to elevate Amazonian office experience and raise the quality/security bar in IT Infrastructure.

The successful candidate will own the complete IT Infrastructure program lifecycle from define, design, implement, test till closure and provide clear communication on program status to stakeholders and partners throughout program delivery timelines. Technical Infrastructure Program Manager (TIPM) work with internal teams as Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF), Business focal/Lab Owners, Engineers, Architects, Security, Enterprise Networking (EN), AV, Circuit, Local IT and external vendors as Cable Integrators, Telco Designers, IT Consultants, Internet Service Providers (ISP), Valued Added Reseller (VAR) and will be the Single Threaded Leader (STL) from program delivery standpoint.

This person is a role model for others to emulate program management best practices alongwith breadth in technical knowledge in areas of IT infrastructure (network, storage, compute).

As a TIPM, you will:

  • demonstrate depth in project management knowledge areas alongwith breadth in technical disciplines as networking (LAN and WAN), cloud, compute and storage.

-enable Zero Corp model for Amazon fabric (CORP) offices including standalones and Campus.

-deliver non-standard lifecycle replacement (LCR) of infrastructure products in the CIS product portfolio as Managed Isolated Network Environments (MINE), Unified Communication (UC) and Campus wireless infrastructure standardization.

-be able to independently lead and deliver large complex programs with considerable impact within region and globally for both standard and non-standard infrastructure solutions as per business requirement.

-be able to develop overall program schedule including critical path comprising individual project components along with key milestones with input and agreement from stakeholders within and across organization including senior leadership as L7/L8.

-be able to monitor and control program level scope creep, change requests and have the ability to identify, analyze and respond to risks.

-engage with architects, designers, senior engineers to ensure correct design approach and industry standard technologies utilized in program while preventing technical debt and consequences of poor technical decisions. This person ensures design formalization, alignment and sign-off from key stakeholders to avoid design creep.

-track and report the team's progress using metrics that capture impact and value and prioritize work based on impact.

-be excellent in communication (verbal and written) and lead meetings effectively by getting the right people in room.

-have strong bias for action and "get it done" attitude.

About the team

The Corporate IT Infrastructure Operations team (IO) is focused on running Amazon’s corporate campus & building infrastructure worldwide. This includes everything from wired and wireless networking to the AV systems in our conference rooms. Where there’s technology at play in these buildings, our team is responsible for keeping it healthy and running as designed. We are passionate about the customer and making sure that Amazonians have the best possible experience while working from the office.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of technical infrastructure management experience

  • Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies, related to infrastructure (i.e. network, data center, hardware, software)

  • Experience with varying scenarios of infrastructure builds

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

  • Certifications or formal training on LAN, WAN, Wireless and server infrastructure

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $197,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
