Amazon Techical Delivery Manager Lead for Army in Seattle, Washington

In this highly visible role, you will be working with the DoD on solutioning, delivering and transforming DoD IT. You will lead the Army Technical Delivery team responsible for the Army delivery strategy, organizational model, baseline revenue goals, leading the team and working AWS account managers, AWS solution architects, and AWS service team subject matter experts to remove obstacles, optimize Delivery and delivery mission benefits.

The ideal candidate will bring both system engineering and business development skills/interests to this position. The ideal candidate will draw upon exemplary technical and project management, leadership, critical thinking, problem solving skills, and a passion for creating reliable and maintainable solutions on AWS. The candidate should be open to new challenges, extremely good at multi-tasking, innovative, creative, self-directed, and a great team player. Candidates should drive continuous process improvement, and collaborate effectively with aggressive cross-functional business and software development teams to solve problems and implement new solutions. The Technical Delivery Manager will interact with a broad cross section of Amazon Web Services spanning a wide range of technologies to meet specific DoD requirements and mission delivery.

Key job responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

• Lead the Army technical Delivery Management team focused on delivering benefits for our mission customers.

• Work with the team to continually review the delivery strategy optimize and accelerate delivery.

• Meet regularly with DoD mission owners and mission operation team leads to understand current and future plans, drivers, blockers and develop solutions.

• Work with the Technical Delivery team and AWS subject matter experts, solutions architects, and professional service engineers to oversee solutions and implementation.

• Meet regularly with DoD mission owners and mission development / operation team leads to oversee workload development / transition status, identify and remove development blockers, and develop plans for future enhancements.

• Solicit performance feedback, identify and eliminate blockers, identify and coordinate AWS resources needed to accelerate deliverables.

• Track and report operational and business goals for reviews. Be able to discuss the goals and determine go forward plans.

• Responsible for providing performance feedback for the individual contributors of the team.

• Strong knowledge of Dept of Defense operations and governance

You will work across AWS to apply your technical, business, and program management expertise to solve some of the most complex and challenging technology problems for our customers.

Working backwards from the customer, you will define opportunities and understand associated business and technical risks that are strategic to the customer’s cloud journey including large-scale migrations, data analytics, digital transformation and innovation, business agility and other.

You will influence technical stakeholders, partner with cross-functional teams and pre/post sales to drive detailed discussions seeking alignment to deliver cloud adoption and migration strategies with, and on behalf of your customer.

You create, manage, and deliver business and technology projects navigating risks or roadblocks and can execute in an ambiguous and changing environment.

You will serve as the customer’s cloud journey coach and be the voice of the customer within AWS,

evangelizing customer needs to AWS leadership, product, and engineering teams

To support the evolution of the AWS customer experience and/or Customer Solutions Manager discipline, you are expected to share best practice learnings into a reusable asset for internal re-use.

Seeking a candidate who is willing to pass the Certified Solution Architect, Associate level within the first year of employment.

This position may require 25% - 40% travel dependent on geo and time of year. (geo-specific)

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience driving technology initiatives including 5+ years of customer-facing experience delivering technology enabled transformations

  • Experience in project management and delivery and/or program-management

  • Demonstrated technical breadth in AWS and/or Cloud fundamentals

  • Effective communication skills (active-listening, verbal, written, and presentation) including progress updates, risk management, execution planning, metrics establishment / tracking, presentations, technical content, public speaking and white papers

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in external customer-facing role(s) within (Insert Vertical)

  • AWS certification(s) and/or other cloud provider certification(s)

  • 1+ years of experience implementing AWS/cloud services

  • PMP or project management related certification (SCRUM/Agile, Princee2, PgMP, Six Sigma, SAFe etc.)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $239,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
