The Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Washington is seeking a full-time Cardiothoracic Surgery Inpatient Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide patient care at the University of Washington Medical Center-Montlake during the night shift.

DEPARTMENT HIGHLIGHTS

  • Teaching Associate

  • Full-time, 12-month service period (July 1-June 30)academic position on a yearly appointment and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work on a dedicated cardiothoracic inter-professional team with other established APPs, Cardiothoracic surgeons, and Mechanical Circulatory support providers.

  • Perform minor bedside procedures and wound management as needed

  • Provide a full spectrum of care for cardiac acute care surgical patients

  • Participate in the education of nursing staff and surgical residents

  • Participate in quality improvement projects and process improvement activities for the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery

  • Performs other related duties as required REQUIREMENTS

  • Current and valid state Registered Nurse Licensure for ARNP or Physician Assistant licensure for PA-C

  • Graduate Degree from and accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or accredited Physician Assistant Program

  • Nationally certified ARNP/PA with DEA

  • Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment

  • Effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in the care of patients undergoing Cardiothoracic Surgical procedures.

  • ACLS Certification

  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
