Diamond Parking Service Tax Director in Seattle, Washington

Summary: Manages the tax department (Senior Manager & Senior Tax Accountant) with responsibilities including ensuring compliance for Federal, State, and Local tax filings for Diamond Parking Inc. and its affiliated companies and owners (including trusts), as well as planning and support for business changes. Diamond Parking is a 100+ year old closely held business with parking management and real estate ownership/management lines of business run by the 3rd generation. We manage over 2,000 parking locations and over 230 properties in 8 states and 2 Canadian provinces. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to the following, as additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned. Provide tax planning support for new business activities Responsible for the completion of federal and state income tax returns including all related analysis and support Responsible for in-house preparation sales and use, general excise tax, real and personal property tax returns Responsible for audits of federal and state and local filings Respond to related tax correspondence and research issues as they arise and recommend courses of action as needed Calculate monthly tax reserve requirement * Prepare the annual tax provision for financial reporting purposes Oversee cost segregation studies Ensuring that appropriate internal controls are in place over accounting for taxes Oversee the development of the Senior Manager and Tax Senior Staff Support on-going estate planning activities Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Enrolled Agent or CPA preferred. A minimum of 7 years of related experience; Pro System tax preparation software experience a plus A minimum of 3 years' experience managing staff Strong interpersonal skills for interacting accountants, operations, upper management, and family Strong verbal/ written communication skills * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Job Description Language Ability: Ability to recap tax issues in memo form for management. Ability to effectively present information in one-onone and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Organization Skills: The ability to organize, manage, and coordinate many accounts across many entities. Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to troubleshoot, find comprehensive solutions, and report findings in a concise and timely manner. Computer Skills: Large ERP experience, Microsoft Excel (lookups and pivot tables).
