TEKsystems Systems Development Engineer in Seattle, Washington

Our client is looking for a customer focused, detail oriented, experienced Systems Development Engineer to join our Product Integration team. This team is responsible for all global core services and infrastructure within the Operations Technology space. Our systems support over 100,000 employees and hundreds of thousands of IP enabled devices. The position will be based in Nashville, TN.

This is a technical leadership position. Technicians and engineers worldwide will look to you for mentorship, guidance and solutions to complex problems. Your peers will be systems, network and software engineers working to make the technology that supports our Fulfillment Centers and Transportation sites simple and efficient. In this role you will have the opportunity to design solutions to business problems that are truly unique to the client. We value performance, simplicity, and scalability in our designs. In our day-to-day work we focus on automation of complex tasks to allow our business to scale with customer demand.
As a Systems Development Engineer you will work with a wide variety of technologies and projects that range from third party enterprise solutions to open source and proprietary inventions to solve for the business needs. The ability to build productive relationships with colleagues at remote sites around the world will make you successful in this role as will patience and a sense of humor. You can expect to constantly learn new things and expand your knowledge to meet varying business demands. You will occasionally travel to Fulfillment Centers in the US, Asia and Europe.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
W2 candidates only, MUST be willing to relocate to Nashville by mid-July
Needs some coding experience - will coding less than 30% of the day
· 5+ years coding in Java, Ruby, Python or other DevOps oriented languages (Java & Python in their environment)
· Knowledge of OS distribution and release management fundamentals
· Knowledge of Linux System Administration
· Knowledge of Networking protocols
· Professional software engineering best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operations
· Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
· Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability
· Eager to learn, enjoy a fast-paced environment
· Driven to provide the best customer experience via technology
· Vendor management experience
· Ability to drive innovation
· Experience using Amazon Web Services
· Python application development experience

Gaps: Our client needs more talented developers that ideally started out in systems admin space ( heavy linux). They recently need to have moved into a development or devops type of role. This resource will help build the services and need to have knowledge to plug into services - python development building API's - UI/UX (not primary focus, but a plus)
