Providence St. Joseph Health Systems Analyst in Seattle, Washington

Description This position is remote that will require some on site meetings as needed and can sit in the footprint of Providence in the states of OR, WA, or, CA. As part of the enterprise Data Governance team, the Systems Analyst will translate business requirements into technical requirements and specifications for software engineers and data engineers to implement. The Systems Analyst also assesses impacts of new requirements to existing platforms and proposes the development of new tools (as appropriate). While the focus of the Systems Analyst role is the development of technical requirements and specifications, the Systems Analyst may be called upon to engage Business Stakeholders to elicit, understand and document business requirements. In this role, Systems Analyst must be adept at translating business requirements related to master data management (MDM) match and merge processes and data quality. The Systems Analyst must be able to identify potential source systems and define inclusion and exclusion logic, as well as potential data quality rules. The Systems Analyst must also be able to conduct root cause analysis and identify not only the proximate cause of an issue but also other conditions and factors that led to the occurrence of that issue. The Systems Analyst will deploy and propagate standard practices in data management, and work with various technical and non-technical stakeholders to adopt such standard processes. The Systems Analyst will use a variety of tools to analyze data and collaborate with others to organize and catalog the data and to obtain insights from such data, as well as subject matter expert for certain data domains. Primary responsibilities: Develop technical specifications based on an understanding and review of business requirements. Assess and articulate platform and business process impacts of new requirements, projects or initiatives. Primary scope of technical solutions analysis and impact assessments is master data management. Functional system analyst experience Job duties Include: Analysis and Design: Conduct impact analysis of requested changes and/or new projects or initiatives. Conduct root cause analysis for data-related issues. Review data lineage, and related business and technical metadata, as well the state of data quality of relevant data. Impact analysis requires qualitative and quantitative analysis of how new requirements or initiatives will affect existing platforms and/or business processes. The successful candidate must be able to think holistically to identify and define how new requirements and initiatives will impact and existing platform and current users of that platform. Technical Depth: Query database tables to derive information about data content and its relationship with other data in disparate tables. Assess data based on its source and its relationship with master and reference data. Assess implications of data governance, data quality, data privacy and metadata management. Must be able to review business requirements and assess technical impacts, and propose technical solutions that are captured in technical specifications. Must be able to develop technical specifications and conduct a walkthrough of those technical specifications with software and data engineers. Must have a practical understanding of master data management and its lifecycle to be able to assess how new business use cases translate into technical specifications.
