What are we building

System infrastructure for eleven Development teams in two countries for one single page application (SPA) utilizing RHEL, Azure Cloud, Ansible, GitLab and other technologies.  This SPA called EXP.O NOW is our company's leading customer facing digital product.  It drives our business, improves user experiences with modern upgrades, while staying modular and adaptable.  We set expectations to deliver best in class results with timeliness to capture eager markets, looking for innovative approaches to overcome the challenges faced by Development, Operations, and Continuous Deployments.

Who we need and what is the System Administrator Job Description

Our System Administrator needs to be able to handle building and supporting our essential infrastructure both for on Prem (UNIX) and Cloud based (Azure) servers through support, troubleshooting, installation, and deployment.  Be creative during collaboration on best practices and find ways to improve performance along with efficiency.  Possess resolve for troubleshooting complex and simple issues alike.  They will have a keen eye for recognizing inefficiency and take the initiative to simplify processes for their team and customers.  A solid understanding of automation and infrastructure as code would be desired!

Primary Responsibilities

  • Utilizing Infrastructure as Code best practices, develop, maintain, and enhance systems using Python, C, and bash

  • Provide recommendations to management through research and review of recent industry solutions in various UNIX related technologies

  • Perform system builds and hardware upgrades for UNIX servers with ability to utilize Ansible

  • Diagnose and isolate operating system, server-side networking, and application-related problems; create workarounds or conduct system and disk recovery as necessary

  • Create documentation and training material; provide training to others to ensure cross collaboration

  • Provide production support for servers and data storage including after-hours on-call support

  • Perform hardware maintenance, repairs, and replacements

  • Enable and maintain system backups utilizing backup software and web-based monitoring tools

This position is on-site and will reside in the greater Seattle, WA. area at one of the following locations depending on availability. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Red Hat (RHEL) experience as IT support or similar role

  • Working knowledge of Azure Cloud management resources

  • Ability to Document procedures, standards, best practices

  • Strong work ethic, interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals

  • An aptitude for methodical and comprehensive troubleshooting

  • Strong understanding of Active Directory and group policies

  • Experience with Ansible and Ansible AWX

  • Experience with automation frameworks & extensive programming/scripting experience (bash, C, Python)

  • Experience installing, configuring, and supporting in-house & 3rd party software

  • Knowledge of backup strategies and products

  • Knowledge of DTrace and other diagnostic tools

  • Experience using fiber attached storage in both SAN and point-to-point environments

Desired Qualifications

  • Practiced in designing and implementing business continuity/disaster recovery and high availability plans

  • Experience with Docker

  • Experience troubleshooting network and connectivity issues

  • Experience with cluster management software (VCS)

  • Experience with Kubernetes or similar Containerization 

  • Experience with Solaris and Solaris Zones

  • Experience with Cohesity or CommVault backup solutions

  • Expertise configuring and supporting Sun Volume Manager, Veritas Storage Foundation, and ZFS

  • Working knowledge of Terraform scripting language

Expected base salary: $75,000 to $150,000
