The Statistical Research Associate I/II (SRA) will be a member of the statistical team of the SWOG Cancer Research Network Statistics and Data Management Center (SDMC) in the Public Health Sciences Division. SWOG is a national clinical trials cooperative group funded by the National Cancer Institute. The primary activities of the Statistical Center involve: 1) the design, implementation and analysis of clinical trials that assess therapeutic interventions for all types of adult cancers as well as cancer control and prevention trials; 2) support of translational research to target markers of disease prognosis and treatment prediction; and 3) development of methodology to improve clinical trials design. The SWOG SDMC includes approximately 20 biostatisticians, roughly one-third of whom are faculty and two-thirds are SRAs.

  • Work with other statisticians and medical collaborators on the design and analysis of cancer clinical trials

  • Work with the study team on trial-specific data collection forms and the implementation of the study in the electronic data management system

  • Monitor ongoing clinical trials

  • Provide statistical analysis of clinical trial data using statistical software programs

  • Participate in the analysis of data from large medical databases

  • Prepare written summaries and tables of results for use in study reports and scientific papers

  • Participate in the analysis of translational research data

  • Perform other duties as necessary

  • Master’s degree in Statistics or Biostatistics and experience in statistical consulting

  • Minimum six months of related experience

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively

  • Background in statistical computing, data base management and experience working with CDISC standards is a plus

  • Experience in the analysis and design of clinical trials is desirable
