Google Staff Software Engineer, Google Kubernetes Engine Security in Seattle, Washington

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 10 years of software development experience, or 8 years with a relevant advanced degree.

  • Software development experience in one or more general purpose programming languages.

  • Experience in building security products for cloud.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Hands on technical leadership experience leading project teams and setting technical direction.

  • Experience in authentication, encryption, certificate management, or operating system security.

  • Experience in platform hardening and identity management.

  • Experience with open source development.

  • Software development experience in Kubernetes.

The Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) Security is responsible for the security of a product that has experienced explosive growth over the past years. GKE is also the foundation on which Anthos is built. Anthos is an open hybrid and multi-cloud application platform that enables customers to modernize their existing applications, build new ones, and run them anywhere in a secure manner. As part of this role, you will be leading the efforts to secure GKE on all Anthos platforms including Google Cloud Platform and OnPrem. This role is an opportunity to lead not just Google, but the entire cloud industry on how we define security for containers in a Kubernetes first cloud.

  • Research, design, and apply advanced security techniques.

  • Design and engineer cloud security services and infrastructure.

  • Develop advanced authentication and authorization systems.

  • Take part in security incident response and help partner Google teams to deploy applications securely on the GKE platform.

  • Actively participate and contribute to the open source Kubernetes community.
