Summary

We are seeking a Staff Software Development Engineer to lead our Front Store web development efforts for our e-commerce platform. In this role, you will architect, develop, and optimize high-performance, scalable web applications using cutting-edge technologies such as React.js and Next.js. The Staff Software Development Engineer will be responsible for driving technical decisions, mentoring team members, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional user experiences. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in e-commerce, cloud technologies, and enterprise content management systems.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in web development

  • 5+ years of experience with React.js and/or Next.js and e-commerce platforms

  • 5+ years of experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and/or Next.js, including advanced concepts such as:

  • React Hooks (useState, useEffect, useContext, useRef, useMemo, useCallback)

  • Server-side rendering (SSR) and/or static site generation (SSG)

  • Next.js API routes and middleware

  • State management solutions (React Query, Redux, Zustand)

  • Performance optimization techniques

  • 3+ years of experience in architecting and developing large-scale, high-traffic e-commerce applications

  • 2+ years of strong proficiency in RESTful API design and/or GraphQL implementation

  • 2+ years of experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

  • 2+ years of experience in CI/CD practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)

  • 2+ years of experience with containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing headless Single Page Applications (SPAs) using React.js, particularly with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)

  • Expertise in implementing observability solutions, including logging, monitoring, and distributed tracing

  • Familiarity with AEM's Content Services, SPA Editor, and integration patterns with React applications

  • Experience with serverless architectures and functions (e.g., Google Cloud Functions)

  • Proactively and regularly develops and document best practices

  • Proactively identifies technical gaps, risks, mitigations, pain-points and implements appropriate solutions with appropriate urgency

  • Expertise in implementing internationalization (i18n) and localization (l10n) in React applications

  • Advanced knowledge of CDN implementation and global content delivery optimization

  • Advanced knowledge of Web application performance optimization

  • Experience with A/B testing and experimentation frameworks in React applications

  • Proficiency in advanced CSS techniques and modern UI libraries (e.g., Styled Components, Tailwind CSS)

  • Experience with Adobe Analytics implementation and usage in e-commerce environments

  • Familiarity with Tealium for tag management and customer data orchestration

  • Strong understanding of SEO best practices and their implementation in React and Next.js applications

  • Strong understanding of web security best practices and PCI compliance requirements

  • Strong understanding of A11Y best practices and requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, mentor developers, and drive architectural decisions

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (High School Diploma and 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$142,140.00 - $284,280.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
