The Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO) is part of AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS), which is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. We work backwards from our customer’s most complex and business critical problems to build and execute go-to- market plans that turn AWS ideas into multi-billion-dollar businesses. As an EC2 Efficient Compute Solutions Architect (SA) lead for Spot, you will partner with engineering, product management, business development, and technical field teams to drive the enablement and adoption of Spot Instances. You will also be part of broader team initiatives that will include supporting customer adoption of AWS Graviton EC2 instances. Your day to day will include writing white papers, blogs, reference architectures, do presentations to enable customers and partners understand and leverage the value of Efficient Compute architectures. As a Solutions Architect, you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to redefine how customers create and consume efficient and fault tolerant cloud services at a scale not seen before. As a technical expert in the field specialist team, you'll be at the tip of the spear for technology thought leadership and implementation with major customers across a broad array of EC2 Engagements.

The ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a deep understanding of cloud, use cases, architectures, workflow and ecosystem. The ability to connect technology with measurable business value is critical to a Solutions Architect. You should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, products, and technical challenges. As a Spot SA Lead, you will work in closely with product engineering teams to help drive the evolution and adoption of scalable, flexible, and resilient technical architectures. This might involve guiding customers as they refactor an application or designing entirely new cloud-based systems.

Key job responsibilities

  • Represent the voice of the customer; bring customer feedback to product teams to influence feature development and future product roadmap.

  • Provide advanced technical knowledge to your domain aligned GTM teams to unblock our customers’ largest and most critical business challenges.

  • Act as a thought leader sharing best practices through forums such as AWS blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures and public-speaking events such as AWS Summit, AWS re: Invent, etc.

  • Partner with Business Development teams to define the technical components of best in class GTM concepts, solutions, and initiatives.

  • Develop and support an AWS internal community of technical subject matter experts worldwide. Create field enablement materials for the broader SA population, to help them understand how to integrate Amazon Web Services solutions into customer architectures.

About the team

The WWSO Efficient Compute team positions AWS as the best place for customers to run compute workloads in the most price performant way. Our team helps customers design efficient and optimized architectures using Compute services such as: Auto Scaling Groups, Graviton, Spot and Flex Instances and in general techniques that help to increase elasticity, reduce cost, increase performance and deliver against sustainability goals.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience

  • 5+ years of technical customer facing experience

  • 5+ years of years of experience in software development with modern programming languages (Java, Python, C/C++, Go, .Net, Rust, etc), cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure

  • History of successful technical consulting and/or architecture engagements with large-scale customers or enterprises

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with executives, IT Management, and developers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud

  • Familiarity with common enterprise services and working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies

  • Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries

  • AWS Solution Architecture certification or relevant cloud expertise

  • Computer Science /relevant degree and/or experience highly desired

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $239,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
